Myth #1: Falsetto is just for men not for women

Myth #2: I don’t need to learn to sing Falsetto

Myth #3: I can’t sing Falsetto

The truth is everyone can sing Falsetto both men and women. What is Falsetto? It tends to be your highest register in singing your highest notes. It’s different than all registers because it tends to have a lighter and airy sound where your vocal chords don’t touch as much. Instead they are more relaxed.

Falsetto is also a way of adding texture and dynamic to your voice. You don’t have to sing Falsetto only in your highest range. You can easily sing Falsetto in a lower register while maintaining relax vocal closure while singing a phrase or whole song in an airy, line tone. An example of some famous singers who sing Falsetto are Billie Eilish, Michael Jackson, Prince, and Mariah Carey. You’ll hear a different the way to sing certain songs.

Falsetto is actually incredibly easy to learn. Everyone can sing Falsetto because we all can sigh. In fact we probably sigh unintentionally everyday without knowing it. Try it. Do a simple sigh in a high note and go down the scale as an easy warm up. Notice how it feels different than singing in chest or head voice. It has a different feel and texture to the sound.
